Whether you are going on holiday with your children or a bunch of adults making their way to a destination somewhere far off, you will need to put some planning into any road trip if you want to make it a success. It is going to require hard driving, long hours and some discomfort so you had better be ready to put yourself through some punishment. But there is no reason that a road trip need be all about the discomfort and the tiredness. It can be quite good fun, too, as long as you do not make such errors with the planning that you end up in screaming discomfort or lost in the middle of nowhere.
