Black & white in the voting booth

It seems like a pretty obvious question about this year's presidential election campaign -- but it's awkward, uncomfortable and revealing: Will voters' racial experiences or identities be factors in whether they vote for Democrat Barack Obama or Republican John McCain? In an ideal world, the answer would be no -- policy positions, experience and personal character would be the deciding factors. In the real world, though, race matters.
